City of Burien

The City of Burien’s Utility Tax Relief Program offers rebates on certain utility taxes paid toward the following services: water, sewer, solid waste removal provided by Recology Cleanscapes, electricity provided by Puget Sound Energy, telephone (including cellular), and basic cable television. 

Applications for the 2025 calendar year are now being accepted. The application period will close on December 5, 2025, and rebates will be issued by the end of January 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

There are a few requirements to be eligible to receive utility relief.

• Resident of Burien
• Annual income is under 50 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI)

Application Instructions

There are two options for applying for the utility tax rebate. You will need proof of residency and income. 

• Print out application (English | Español). Visit Burien City Hall during normal business hours to fill out and submit the print application in person. 

• You may also mail in your application to: City of Burien, 400 SW 152nd St. Suite 300, Burien WA 98166
