Below is a list of current projects for which the City of Burien is seeking bids, requests for proposals (RFPs), or requests for qualifications (RFQs). Each project notice contains instructions on how interested parties can get detailed information for the project.

RFP for Development of a Hotel in the City of Burien

The City is seeking proposals from hotel developers for the construction of a hotel on City-owned land in downtown Burien. The 1.3-acre undeveloped property is located on SW 150th between 1st and 4th Ave and is located just seven minutes from the arrivals and departures gates at Sea-Tac International Airport. The Burien hotel site offers great accessibility between the airport and the Seattle region while also offering hotel guests the convenience of a walkable downtown full of quality restaurants and bakeries.

Amendment to the RFP
On September 18, the City of Burien has removed the following language from page 7, section 2: “In addition, the City will require the successful candidate to enter into a project labor agreement with a neutrality provision with the appropriate contractors and subcontractors during the construction of the project.”

RFP for Lakeview Park Improvements for Playground and Pathway Replacement

The project generally provides for and includes the demolition and disposal of existing ”tot” play equipment, minor modifications to existing play area and surfacing, installation of new play equipment, removal and disposal of existing limited asphalt path, construction of new asphalt path and surfacing, and restoration of disturbed turf and irrigation as required due to construction, all in accordance with the Contract Plans, Specifications, Special Provisions, CDBG Supplementary Conditions, and Addenda.

Engineer’s estimated cost: $164,703.00.

This project is financed through the King County Consortium Community Development Block Grant Program with funds obtained from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The contract will be subject to regulations of the Department of Labor and Housing and Urban Development. Attention is called to Federal provisions for Equal Employment Opportunity, HUD Section 3 requirements, and the minimum wages as set forth in the contract documents.

The United States Department of Labor generally includes positions known under Washington State Labor and Industries as “playground installers” and “fence installers” as General Laborer Group 3 unless specifically called out in the wage decision. Wages between these various classification systems can vary greatly and affect your bid. When paying Prevailing Wages, whether Washington State Prevailing Wage or Federal Davis-Bacon, employers shall pay the higher of the two for any given job classification. Contract Documents and Plans will be available for public inspection starting Thursday, September 20, 2018. A hard copy of said documents can be obtained with a Public Records Request.

RFP for Burien Regional Growth Urban Centers Subarea Plan

The City of Burien, Washington, is requesting proposals from qualified firms with demonstrated experience in urban, transportation planning, outreach and public engagement to develop an Urban Center Subarea Plan for the Burien Regional Growth Center. A competitive negotiation process will be used; the final scope of work is negotiable and may include additional features and capabilities.
