Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for the City of Burien’s fiscal management. Finance staff provide timely, transparent, and meaningful support services to residents, employees, vendors who work with the City, and City Council.

The Finance Department prepares a number of financial reports that are available to the public, including the biennial budget, the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), and quarterly financial reports.

Payment Status

The payment status of an individual invoice can be verified by contacting Accounts Payable. Checks are issued the first and third Mondays of each month.

Tax Identification Number (TIN)

The Internal Revenue Service requires that the City have a current Tax Identification Number on file for all City vendors. The W-9 form must be filled out completely and mailed to the address below. Copies can also be faxed to (206) 248-5539.

Local Improvement Districts (LID)

Local Improvement Districts (LIDs) help benefitting properties finance capital improvements, such as installation of sidewalks, and curbs, and gutters. The City of Burien has two assessment districts that were formed to finance the construction of street improvements.
