BURIEN: A dynamic, inviting city that feels like a neighborhood
Nestled along the Puget Sound with dramatic views of Mt. Rainier, Burien is home to a community that is as vibrant as our natural environment.
Shoreline parks and treasured green space provide the backdrop to a city filled with arts festivals, cultural events, and thriving businesses. Residents of Burien know their neighbors and invest in the community. There are opportunities to plant roots and grow in our city. It is great place to call home! We are proud of our stellar schools, cultural connections, access to nature, and robust local economy.
Resident Resources
As a resident of Burien, you are what makes our city exceptional! The supportive, creative energy of our community is why Burien brims with promise. We are committed to Burien residents. We are here to provide the information and resources you need to build a life in our city. Whether you are looking for statistics about local schools, help finding a social service provider, or want to make a report to a city official, we can assist you.
Public Safety
Our public safety officials work hard so residents and visitors can enjoy a peaceful city. Police and Fire departments collaborate with local leaders to keep our streets safe and healthy. Animal control helps house and care for Burien's stray animals, and adopts out unclaimed animals to new loving families. We welcome your feedback and strive to keep you updated about our work. We regularly share reports and details from our police, fire and animal control services and offer ways to help prepare for an emergency.
Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services (PaRCS)
The Burien PaRCS department supports the high quality of life in our city by providing inspiration and recreation. Our PaRCS department makes nature accessible to all by caring for our city parks and open spaces. Burien PaRCS promotes our city’s connection to arts and culture with regular festivals and public events. An array of affordable classes for people of all ages are available at the Burien Community Center and Moshier Art Center. Whether you are a resident or visitor, Burien PaRCS makes it possible to get outside, try something new, and get inspired.
Public Works
Our public works projects are vital to our community. Burien invests in the infrastructure necessary for our city’s safety, economy, and environment. Our public works team manages stormwater to protect our local watershed, maintains and improves roads, and ensures our city can respond to growth. We track the progress of public works projects and share it with you.
Burien’s Vision
Although our city incorporated in 1993, a vibrant community has called this area home for well over a century. We have a vision for Burien that builds on our history and creates a sustainable, innovative, and friendly city for the future.
