Renting in Burien

Effective March 18 and by order of Governor Jay Inslee, evictions and rent late fees are prohibited for 30 days across Washington state. And effective, March 18, the King County Sheriff’s Office will not enforce eviction ordersThe Burien City Council passed a resolution of support on March 23. 

The City of Burien's renter protections that passed last October are still in place under the Governor’s order.

If you receive an eviction notice, you can use this sample letter to communicate with your landlord. You can also contact our Rental Housing Inspection Program Coordinator for help at renting@burienwa.gov. 

These web pages attempt to provide comprehensive information and resources on rental regulations in Burien, however, they are a work in progress and will be updated as more information becomes available. The City is also exploring different options to support a housing ombudsperson role.
