Recent investments have further cemented health care’s importance in
Burien’s economy including two brand new clinics, a new health sciences
education facility, and major investments planned for St. Anne Hospital. The largest employment sector, Burien has a large concentration
of health care providers including:
- St. Anne Hospital (a full service hospital)
- Neighborhood clinics
- Private practice doctors, dentists
- Natural medicine
- Other wellness specialists
Together
with educational programs like the Puget Sound Skills Center, which is
training the next generation workforce, these health care providers
comprise the Wellness Cluster and produce thousands of jobs for the
local economy.
“The Burien Wellness Cluster was critical to our
success. Through the Wellness Cluster, we were able to form
relationships with businesses and identify employers for our students
with certifications in nursing.” – Dave Estes, Puget Sound Skills Center,
Burien
