Project Location
Project is located on 21st Avenue SW from 11728 21st Ave SW until SW 119th Street, and then along SW 119th Street from 21st Avenue SW to 20th Avenue SW.
Project Overview
The City was able to obtain a King County Flood Control grant to fund the construction of an 18-inch storm drain pipe. This new pipeline shall relieve an older one that currently conveys stormwater through the backyard of several homes and has caused significant flooding. The new pipeline also provides better accessibility and maintenance.
Project Status
- Contractor was selected in April 2024.
- Construction to occur – Summer 2024 (expected to start in June).
Neighborhood Impact
Residences immediately adjacent to the work will experience intermittent driveway closures. Contractor will make efforts to restore limited accesses at the end of each day. Residents should plan ahead for daily necessities, particular appointments (such as medical), and any special events. Impacted driveways will be fully restored.
There will also be limited through-travel along 21st Avenue SW and SW 119th Streets at various times of the day. Full closure may be expected at any time. Alternate routes are advised or delays should be considered.
