Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP)
The Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan (CEMP) is updated and approved by the State of Washington every four years. It is a product of the coordinated planning between the Office of Emergency Management and all City departments and divisions. This plan meets the requirements of RCW Chapter 38.52, of the Washington State Emergency Management Guide, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency's guidelines.
Hazard Mitigation Plan
This plan provides long-term strategies for reducing the impacts of disasters in Burien such as earthquakes, floods, fires, and landslides. Disasters take a heavy toll on communities by destroying life, property, critical infrastructure, and natural systems. They can also disrupt local economies, sometimes permanently. The HMP represents Burien’s commitment to creating and maintaining a resilient community if disaster strikes.
