The City of Burien has hired Casey Headley as the City’s Finance Director. Headley’s first day leading the Finance Department was December 2, 2024.

Headley comes to Burien from the City of Albany, Oregon after serving as their finance manager. Headley holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from Eastern Oregon University. Headley continues to add to this experience by actively participating in continued education and training opportunities in leadership and governmental accounting.

Headley shared that she was drawn to Burien because it is “a gem, close to the Puget Sound, with a community-oriented vibe, and lots of fantastic dining options”.

“Burien has experienced significant growth in recent years, bringing both opportunities and challenges,” said Headley. “My top priority is to collaborate with our team and councilmembers to guide this growth in a way that enhances sustainability, supports economic vitality, and improves the overall quality of life for all residents.”

Headley hopes to accomplish this “by managing the funding sources efficiently and educating the community in what it takes to provide services to support their goals and mitigate risk. I also aim to foster a strong leadership team which collaborates effectively, supports all City staff, and builds positive relationships with peers and community.”
