Critical Area Ordinance Update

Purpose

The City of Burien is seeking an environmental consultant team to assist in guiding the Critical Area Ordinance update, as a part of implementing Burien 2044 Comprehensive Plan, as required by the Growth Management Act.

Consultants must have experience working with all critical areas, as listed in RCW 36.70A.030(6). The consultant team is expected to provide project management services in consultation with City staff. The general scope of work includes the following key tasks:
1. Communication and Engagement Plan
2. Existing Conditions Assessment
3. Best Available Science Review
4. GAP Analysis
5. Regulation Development
6. Preparation of materials and presentations throughout legislative process

Schedule and Contact Information

The City of Burien will follow a schedule that results in the selection of a consultant to provide services commencing in approximately August 2024 and for approximately 15 to 18 months (through November of 2025).
