Update (July 1, 2022): The Burien City Council voted unanimously to appoint Adolfo Bailon to be the City of Burien’s new city manager, following an extensive interview and selection process. The City Council approved a contract agreement with Bailon during its meeting on June 30, 2022.
The Burien City Council is hiring a new city manager for Burien. After five years of service to the Burien community, Brian J. Wilson announced his resignation last December. Carolyn Hope, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director, was appointed interim city manager effective January 16, 2022.
The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the City and reports to the Mayor and City Council. The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City, including appointment and supervision of all City staff; recommendation of policies, procedures, and ordinances; and the development of the City’s budget for the Mayor and City Council’s consideration and approval.
The City Council hired GovHR USA to facilitate the recruitment process.
