In May 2021, City Council adopted the Urban Center Streetscape Design Plan. The purpose of the Urban Center Streetscape Design Plan is to further the vision of the 2020 Urban Center Plan and plan for a public right-of-way in the Urban Center that is inviting to all modes of transportation.
The Urban Center Streetscape Design Plan provides design recommendations tailored to specific roadways and design guidelines that apply broadly throughout the Urban Center that will potentially result in future changes to policies and/or regulations affecting development in the Urban Center. The plan includes recommendations on providing mid-block connections to provide pedestrian access through some of downtown’s larger blocks. The plan also provides design guidelines related to pedestrian amenities and access, street furnishings and landscaping, stormwater features, wayfinding signage, and the use of alleys and public streets.
