Public Safety Ballot Measure

Purpose

The City of Burien is requesting proposals from qualified individuals or organizations to provide consulting services for a public safety ballot measure.

Consultants must have experience working with governmental agencies that have sought levy lid lifts and engaging stakeholders successfully to obtain results, such as those that meet the specific needs of the City of Burien.

The general scope of work includes the following four key tasks. The organization and breadth of work in each task will be further refined during the contract negotiation.

  • Task 1: Manage all aspects of the initiative process on Burien’s behalf.
  • Task 2: Review existing surveys, reports, and financial forecasts created by Burien staff and existing contractors to develop an understanding of existing needs as expressed by community members and Burien staff.
  • Task 3: Work with Burien staff and the City Council, through Burien staff, to identify and determine the exact request to be included in a ballot initiative.
  • Task 4: Develop and manage a public engagement process to inform the public.

The City of Burien will follow a schedule that results in the selection of a consultant to provide services commencing in approximately August 2024 and for approximately 15 to 18 months (through November of 2025).
