Contact the City Council
As the City's governing body, Burien's seven elected part-time City Councilmembers serve staggered four-year terms; roughly half the Council is up for election every two years. All Councilmembers are "at-large" meaning that they serve the City as a whole, as opposed to a specific district.
The City Council chooses a Mayor (two-year term) and Deputy Mayor (one-year term) from among its members at the first meeting of each year. The Mayor presides at Council meetings and represents the City at ceremonial functions and inter-governmental meetings. The Deputy Mayor presides in the Mayor's absence.
Those who wish to send correspondence to the Council on matters relating to City business, policies, laws, and/or regulations may email all Councilmembers at [email protected].
Your email will be received by all Councilmembers and included in Correspondence to the Council, which will be represented in a weekly report of correspondence received between Wednesday at noon to Wednesday at noon. Please note that any correspondence sent to the Council is a public record.
