“It is an honor to serve all our families in Burien. I want to ensure that we have a future that's affordable, inclusive, and views our diversity as a community asset that will help us grow while ensuring dignity for all Burien families. I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve each of you and know that I have an open door to work collectively to improve Burien. Thank you.”

Olguin was born and raised in Compton, CA in a single-mother household where he learned the value of positive role models and the value of education and hard work. He later moved to Burien to join Teamsters Local 117.

His commitment to serve the community stems from his long career of fighting for social and economic justice for workers, students, people of color, and immigrants.

As a labor leader and advocate, Olguin has received support from faith, labor, and grassroots organizations to help promote an inclusive agenda to help work on the following issues:

  • Organized labor and economic justice
  • Environmental justice
  • Public safety and at-risk youth
  • Community benefits agreements that provide community development

Olguin started his professional career providing ESL and paralegal support for a community based nonprofit, OneStop Immigration/Pro-Uno. While he was in college, he worked as a student advocate to increase access and retention to college for at-risked youth. After college, Olguin began a career as a labor advocate working for several labor unions including SEIU-USWW, Change-To-Win, and Teamsters.

He has a bachelor's degree in political science from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and an associate's degree in accounting from East Los Angeles Community College

Olguin enjoys investing his time with his family and hiking and enjoying Washington's outdoors, including our beautiful waterfront. You will find Olguin patronizing our local businesses throughout our downtown with his family.
