Grant Opportunities

The City of Burien offers several funding opportunities for residents and community organizations.

Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant

The Neighborhood Matching Fund is a source of funds to assist with physical improvements to your neighborhood. As a "matching fund", the City provides cash (up to $5,000 per project) and the neighborhood matches the City's contribution with volunteer labor, donated materials, or professional services and cash.

Examples of eligible projects include neighborhood improvement projects such as rain gardens, subdivision identification signs, and streetlights.

There is no deadline—applications are accepted anytime. There is a $5,000 maximum per project. Total funding available for 2018 is $10,000.

For 2018, the City of Burien allocated $10,000 to the Neighborhood Matching Fund Grant.

Applicants may be individuals or nonprofit organizations. Evidence of non-profit status for organizations will be required. The proposed program or event must be held in Burien or serve a majority of Burien residents.

Only one application per individual or organization will be accepted per year.

The 2019 Arts & Culture grant application period has passed. Grant applications for 2020 will be available in the summer of 2019.

For 2019, the City of Burien allocated $20,000 to the Arts & Culture grant.

These funds are allocated to local agencies that provide programs to Burien residents that help with basic needs, self-sufficiency, housing and homelessness, early intervention, domestic violence, and other human services needs.

The application period for 2019-2020 funding is now closed. For 2019–2020, the City of Burien allocated $390,000 per year.
